Wish You Were Here : Pink Floyd

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.

Can you tell a green field
from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
a walk on part in the war
for a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl,
year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

1. Read through 3 seperate times.
2. I chose this song by Pink Floyd because its always had that kind of sense to me as a song. It just seems like so much more then a song.
3. It fits with the message the band is trying to convey. They are mourning over the loss of another band member.
4. They try to create the same kind of sense of loss and understanding that they are feeling. They express this through the tone and musical rhythm in their song.
5. The tone is very sad. It involves that of death and the missing of a loved one and how to overcome that.
